Day-by-Day Itinerary | | Day 01 | Welcome to Lima, Peru. Arrivals to Lima, welcoming reception and transfer to the hotel of your choice for a two night stay with full breakfast included daily. | | Day 02 | Morning Lima Sightseeing and Afternoon Museums Visits. In the morning we will have a tour through Lima's streets and plazas. Starting at the Love Park in Miraflores, with a spectacular view of the Pacific Ocean, and then heading to the Huaca Pucllana, ceremonial center of the Lima culture. Later we will go to San Isidro, financial center of the city to visit de Huaca Huallamarca, ancient pre-Incan shrine. After this, we go on to the Main Square where the Government Palace and the Town Hall are located. We will visit the Cathedral and explore the San Francisco convent, built in the seventeenth century, to discover the mystery of its catacombs. End of the tour, return to the hotel. In the afternoon Lima will surprise us with two of the best museums in the country. The Archaeological and Anthropological Museum offers a panoramic view of the most representative cultures that lived in ancient Peru. Later on we will visit the Larco Museum; an 18th century mansion built on top a pre-Columbian pyramid circa the 7th century. Lots of treasures often exhibited at the world's most prestigious museums are there for us to see. Don't miss the warehouse and the exclusive collection of pre-Columbian erotic ceramics. End of the tour, return to the hotel.B. | | Day 03 | Lima to Cusco. Transfer to the airport and flight to Cusco (airfare is NOT included - please ask for lowest available airfare at booking time). On arrival, welcoming reception and transfer to hotel of your choice for a four night stay at the hotel of your choice with daily breakfast included. In the afternoon the Imperial Cusco city tour starts at the Main Square to visit the Cathedral and its valuable and beautiful colonial masterpieces such as The Cross which arrived along with the first conquistadores. Then it is time to visit the Korikancha temple, Inti God shrine, on which the Santo Domingo church was built. According to the chronicles, this temple was completely covered in gold in Inca times. After this we will visit the Sacsayhuaman Archaeological Park to explore Q'enqo, the Puma shrine, and see the sacrificial altar embedded inside a rock cave; Tambomachay and its sacred fountains of life; Puca Pucará viewpoint and watchtower which guarded the city entrance and Sacsayhuaman, an impressive fortress of colossal dimensions with rocks that are up to 4 meters tall and surrounded by beautiful views blending together perfectly. End of the tour, return to the hotel.B. | | Day 04 | Machu Picchu Full Day Train Expedition. A train trip away to see one of the Seven Wonders of the World. We arrive at the Aguas Calientes station where our staff will assist us on boarding the bus to go up the winding road to Machu Picchu, amid a spectacular view of the Urubamba River and its canyon. The Lost City of the Incas, Machu Picchu, will astonish us with its terraces, ceremonial shrines, steps and urban areas. Energy is all around us. After a guided visit, we will have time to explore the fortress and have lunch at one of the restaurants in the area. At the arranged time, we will take the train back to Cusco to be transferred to the hotel.B. L. | | Day 05 | River Rafting in the Sacred Valley. Early in the morning we pick you up from your hotel and drive through the mountains towards the Sacred Valley of the Incas until we reach our private river put-in located in Pachar. Here you will receive your rafting equipment and a safety briefing. (Toilet facilities are available). After a brief period practicing on the flat parts of the river, we will start our journey on easy waters, while we admire the spectacular views of the mountains and archaeological remains. Continue towards Ollantaytambo and its amazing Inca terraces, at the time we experience class II and III rapids, to finish with “El Resbaladero” (The Slide), a strong class III rapid that includes waves and small whirlpools. We will then have lunch in a traditional restaurant located on the riverside and owned by the local community. This is a great chance to enjoy the Andean cuisine while supporting community projects. Proceed to Ollantaytambo, one of the last Inca cities remaining still on foot. Passengers will enjoy a guided visit to the ruins that crowns the town. Return to Cusco after lunch.B. L. | | Day 06 | Horseback Riding in the Countryside Near Cusco. In the morning, pick up from hotel for a Horseback ride surrounding Cusco. We drive twenty-minute to our start point. The ride will take us through fields, Andean-style villages and Inca's vestiges. We will enjoy a wonderful view of the city of Cusco on our way to the Temple of the Moon, where we will leave our horses and drive back to Cusco to enjoy the balance of the day at leisure. Lunch is included.B. L. | | Day 07 | Cusco to Lima. Transfer to the Cusco airport for your flight to Lima (airfare is NOT included - please ask for lowest available airfare at booking time).
